Close to the marina and not far from its namesake, Almarrah Beach is a peaceful dive along a slanting reef wall.
A bit of a mixed dive, divers will begin with the wall dive and come to rest along a sandy plateau. With a depth of 20m and a visibility of 15–20m, snorkellers and beginner and advanced divers will be able to fully enjoy a vibrant and animated display of land and sea. Visible from underwater, the Acacia trees located on land heighten a bountiful seascape full of marine life.
Ecologically rich and teeming coral, such as bright fire coral, pockets of table coral and an assortment of stony coral. Providing shelter to numerous organisms, the assortment of coral is home to yellowstripe goatfish, anthias, triggerfish, moray eels and glassfish. These fish have almost look transparent, which helps them blend into the environment and evade potential predators.
An exhilarating experience, wall dives are vertical drops alongside the edge of a coral reef or reef wall. Divers will often use reef hooks to secure themselves in place when there is a strong current pushing against the wall. However, this practice is becoming less acceptable due to the negative effects this disruptive mechanism has on coral communities.
