With towering pillars of coral, magnificent sea fans and intricate archways made of sea whip, the underwater landscape here is nothing short of spectacular.

You can enter the water from either the south corner or the centre of the main reef, following either of the two suggested routes which will both take you across sandy plateaus punctuated with huge pinnacles of soft and hard corals. The elongated ridges and complex labyrinths of channels and tunnels make it feels as if you are diving in an underwater city.

Here, divers can expect to see a broad spectrum of marine life including schools of anthias and fusiliers.

Divers are also likely to encounter schools of the glassfish at this site. Despite moving in huge shoals, these small fish are incredibly shy and will dart away at even the slightest disturbance. However, keep steady and you may just view them enjoying their carnivorous diet of bloodworms and mosquito larva. A dive along Saleem Reef is an intimate encounter with the sea, a personal audience with nature that captivates and keeps calling divers back for more.

Coral reefs are one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems. While some coral species branch outwards, others grow in a more column-like shape. Over time they can form huge pinnacles as the colonies expand and grow.
